A record field of over 220 participants took part in the German Kart Championship in Wackersdorf at the weekend. In the Mini category, Henri Möhring managed to break free after a lot of bad luck so far and was delighted with his first trophy. He would now like to build on this in the second half of the year.

The youngster from the TB Racing Team has already proven that he has the potential for the top ranks in Mülsen and Ampfing. But in each case he was involuntarily slowed down and lost a safe position in the top group as a result. He now continued at Pro Kart Raceland Wackersdorf. On his birthday weekend, he started the third event well prepared.

On Sunday, summer returned to the Oberpfalz. Henri moved up from ninth position in the Super Heat to a strong third place and thus improved to fifth on the grid for the grand final. In front of packed spectator ranks, he fought fierce battles with the competition. When the chequered flag fell, Henri was back in fifth place and delighted with his first DMKM trophy. He also secured the fastest race lap in the final.

“At last, everything went right and, above all, we had no bad luck. We were very close together in the final. I lost some ground at the start, but I quickly made up for that and am now delighted with this step forward. We can continue like this in the second half of the season. I’ve now moved up to seventh place in the championship. A big thank you to my parents, my team and partners for their support,” said the now ten-year-old ADAC Hessen-Thüringen protégé.

Henri now has to wait five weeks until the next DMKM race. From July 19-21, the highest German kart racing series will be held at the Erftlandring in Kerpen.
