Henri Möhring back in the top ranks
The fourth round of the WSK Super Masters Series in Franciacorta (Italy) was on the program at the weekend. Henri Möhring was among the 405 drivers from 56 nations. After a difficult start to the season, the young German racer returned to the top ranks and is already looking forward to the next races.
Bright sunshine and the best conditions await on the 1,300-meter race track in northern Italy. For Henri Möhring, the start to the 2025 season did not go as hoped. However, he managed to turn things around in Franciacorta and made the competition sit up and take notice in training.
He followed this up in qualifying and was within striking distance of the front runners in seventh place in his group. He then took advantage of his good starting position in the heats and finished the first round in third place. With two more results within reach of the top ten, the youngster from the Tony Kart Racing Team was 14th out of a total of 71 participants in the Mini Group 3 class on Saturday evening.
“Things are going really well so far. Here in Franciacorta, I’ve finally been able to build on my very good results from last season. It was a bit colder on Saturday, so we had to adjust to that. I’m now looking forward to the final Sunday,” said the ten-year-old from Hesse, who was in high spirits. Henri got off to a perfect start in the pre-final and rode in the leading group for a long time. There were numerous slipstream duels and overtaking maneuvers in the tight field – Henri showed the necessary nerves of steel and saw the chequered flag in seventh place. Entry into the final from 11th on the grid was assured and the man from Schöneck gave it his all. Unfortunately, there was a small setback. He was unable to avoid a collision in front of him in a tight pack and had to free his kart from his rivals, who had piled up on top of him. With a damaged kart, he took up the chase and finished the race at the back of the field, but with a very positive feeling for the challenges ahead.
“Of course, it’s a shame not to have finished the final with a tangible result. But apart from that, we can be very satisfied and have made a significant step forward. I would now like to build on this and thank my team for their hard work and trust in me as a driver. I am particularly grateful to my sponsors, including ready4energy and the PHM Academy, who have made this possible for me,” said the ADAC Hessen-Thüringen e.V. protégé. He will be heading back to Italy on Tuesday. The finale of the WSK Super Masters Series will then take place in Viterbo.
