The second half of the German Mini Kart Championship season got underway in Kerpen last weekend. After an exciting first half, the youngster from Hesse made it no less exciting this time. In the end, he leaves his team cheering in third place.

Henri Möhring has already proven several times that he is a driver for the top ranks in the premiere season of the German Mini Kart Championship. But something kept getting in the way. In Kerpen, things went the other way round for the youngster from the TB Racing Team. Perhaps he was also spurred on by his new partner ready4energy. The 1,107-meter Erftlandring is one of the most traditional race tracks on the calendar. The circuit has been around since 1980 and has been the birthplace of numerous motorsport greats, including seven-time F1 world champion Michael Schumacher and four-time champion Sebastian Vettel. Two idols Henri likes to look up to.

“Of course I want to celebrate great success in motorsport one day. But it’s still a tough road until then,” says the ten-year-old racing driver, aware of the challenge. In Kerpen, he got off to a good start in third place in qualifying. However, he was thrown back directly in the first heat and slipped to 13th place in the intermediate classification as a result. In midsummer temperatures, he then fought sweaty duels in the Super Heat on Sunday morning. When the chequered flag fell, he was a sensational second and underlined his potential. “Wow, that was hard work and an amazing race,” beamed Henri at the finish.

With this strong performance, he improved to fifth place on the grid for the final. He got off to another perfect start and improved into the top three, where he stayed for the entire race and celebrated his second DMKM podium in third place. “Everything finally fell into place and we are getting the reward for our hard work. We’ve been training a lot again over the past few weeks and have now been able to put it to good use. A big thank you to my parents, my partners and the TB Racing Team for their support,” concluded the ADAC Hessen-Thüringen e.V. protég

Henri improved to fifth place in the championship and is now looking forward to the next event. The youngster will continue in Mülsen from August 9-11. He promptly took pole position at the season opener in Arena E – he would certainly enjoy a repeat performance.
