The first Mini60 race of the WAKC should be a good debut for the young driver from Hesse in the new work equipment. On the track in Wackersdorf, many test kilometers had already been completed in preparation for the season and we traveled well adjusted to the kart and the track to the first Mini60 race in Germany. With the positive experiences at the Margutti Trophy in our luggage, the anticipation was great to be able to compete with other drivers in the Mini60 on a national level.

The first practice sessions on Saturday, almost all of which took place on a wet track, showed that Henri should be one of the fastest drivers of the race weekend. It was good to see that Henri has made big steps forward in the last months and was on a different level than last year, both driving and physically.

Sunday began at 8:00 am with a timed free practice and a very good 4th place in the well-staffed Mini starting field with 21 drivers. Until the afternoon nothing should change in the continuous rain. Henri finished the qualifying on wet track, up to the last minute on pole, finally on a strong second place with 3 tenths behind the clearly older driver colleague Emilo Bernd, who secured the pole.

The first race on a dried track and starting from P2 went perfectly at first. Henri was able to take P2 after the first turn behind pole setter Emilio Bernd and lead the race together with him. The two drivers were able to pull away and gain a lead over the rest of the field. From behind Amin Kara Osmar, who finished the qualifying on P3 and had a very good speed throughout, tried to close the gap, which he succeeded in doing. It was a great race with very fair duels in which Henri could bring his experience from Italy. Towards the end of the race the leading group consisted of 5 fast riders and Henri lost 3 places in the last lap due to a contact in a duel, which he tried to get back in the last lap. P3 to P5 finished the race in a real photo finish with the result P4 for Henri Möhring.

The second race starting from P4 took place again under dry conditions. Henri delivered a very exciting and gripping duel with Amin Kara Osmar for 3rd place. Again and again the two changed positions. Unfortunately with an unfortunate end for Henri. Due to the many duels, the chasing pack was able to catch up from behind and the duel turned into a real battle between 5 pilots who tried everything to finish the race in a front position. In the penultimate lap, 3 riders were able to slip past Henri and he found himself in the unloved seventh place. In the daily ranking this meant the 6th place.

“I just love driving Mini60. We have put in some work pre-season. So let’s see how my first race season with this new engine will end up.”

Henri on his new challenge in Mini60.

All in all a good debut in the Mini60 on a national level, which showed that Henri can ride in front. His speed in the rain and the ability to adapt quickly to different track conditions are already very well developed. We will continue to work on this basis and look forward to the next starts in the SAKC and of course the ADAC Kart Masters in Wackersdorf. Before that, the next start awaits Henri at the Rotax Max Challenge at the Erftlandring in Kerpen.
