Difficult start to the season for Henri Möhring
The youngster starts 2025 as an official driver for the Tony Kart Racing Team and had some successful races with the top manufacturer from Italy at the end of last year. He has not yet managed to build on this success.
With races in La Conca and Sarno, Henri’s season started with two premieres. For the first time, he was a guest on the international circuits and gained important experience there. He was promoted to the higher Mini Gr.3 class and met new competitors there. “Last year, I was still racing in the Mini U10 class and have now moved up to the larger Mini due to a change in the regulations. This is obviously a new environment for me, which I have to adapt to,” explains the youngster from Schöneck.
Henri switched to the Tony Kart in mid-2024, putting his trust in one of the biggest kart manufacturers in the world. He impressed those responsible with his podium finishes and is an official works driver this year. Henri traveled to the first races with correspondingly high expectations. Unfortunately, however, they turned out to be more difficult than he had hoped.
In La Conca and Sarno, he struggled with the high grip conditions on unfamiliar tracks and therefore failed to make it into the top ranks, even though he was only a few tenths of a second off the pace. On top of this, Henri also had some bad racing luck, which meant that he was not rewarded for some of his chases to catch up. He proved his speed at the third race weekend in Lonato. On a wet track, he was spun at the start of the pre-final and had to chase the field. By the finish, he had fought his way up from 36th to 13th place and was one of the fastest riders in the field. The performance now gives him momentum for the rest of the race.
“We don’t always have it easy at the moment. Together with my team, we are working hard to ride consistently at the front of the field again. Now we have to stay calm and continue to work with focus. This is a completely new situation and a huge challenge for me, which I am of course accepting,” says Henri, who remains highly motivated. A doubleheader awaits at the end of the WSK Super Masters Series. It starts from March 6-9 in Franciacorta, Italy, and then continues directly to Viterbo, north of Rome. There, Henri wants to go on the attack once again and make it into the final races.
