Henri Möhring wins DKM season opener in Mülsen
One week after his victory at the ADAC Kart Masters, Henri Möhring returned to Arena E in Mülsen and seamlessly built on his strong performance. At the season opener of the German Kart Championship, the young driver from Schöneck prevailed in the OK-N Junior class and celebrated victory in the final for Dörr Motorsport.
With ideal weather conditions and temperatures reaching summer-like highs at times, Henri faced a strong field of 32 drivers. Already in qualifying, the ADAC Hessen-Thüringen e.V. development driver and member of Motorsport Team Germany demonstrated that he belongs among the top group in the first round of the German Junior Kart Championship. With a third-place finish, he secured a strong starting position for the remaining races.
Henri also demonstrated his pace in the heats. He finished second in both heats, maintaining a consistent position among the leaders throughout Saturday. By Saturday evening, the Dörr Motorsport driver was also in second place in the overall standings, laying an important foundation for the final day. However, things didn’t go perfectly in the Super Heat. After a turbulent start, Henri lost a few positions, but was unable to make them up due to a premature race stoppage and finished the race in sixth place. Thanks to his strong preliminary results, however, he remained in a promising position and started the grand final in third place.
The race unfolded in an exciting manner. Henri was part of the leading group from the start and battled for the win. The 11-year-old stayed calm, launched his attack at just the right moment, and took the lead as the race progressed. In the second half of the race, he pulled slightly ahead and crossed the finish line in control to claim the victory.
“It was a lot of fun battling it out with the guys. We had some great and fair duels over the last two days. A big thank you to my team and my partners who support me along the way. Now I’m looking forward to the next round in Cheb,” said Henri after his successful DKM season opener.
With his victory in Mülsen, the driver from Hesse made a strong statement to kick off the new season of the German Junior Karting Championship. The next challenge is already on the horizon at the end of May: From May 29 to 31, the DKM will make its debut in Cheb, Czech Republic. On the 1.202-kilometer track, Henri hopes to build on his strong form and once again challenge for the lead.
