What a debut for Henri Möhring in the Kart Republic works team: At the opening round of the WSK Final Cup in Franciacorta, the young racing driver celebrated his first WSK final victory, thereby making yet another significant mark on the international stage. In a top-class field comprising around 300 drivers from 56 nations, the Motorsport Team Germany driver impressed throughout the weekend and clinched victory in the OK-N Junior final in a spectacular photo finish. The conditions initially presented an additional challenge for drivers and teams. On Friday, heavy rain at times and a wet track made for difficult conditions, whilst on Saturday and Sunday the sun was shining. Henri felt at ease in both situations right from the start and was already among the front-runners in qualifying.

The Schönecker driver then put in a particularly impressive performance in the heats. Henri won three of his heats convincingly and finished second in another. The Kart-Republic works driver demonstrated his strength particularly on a wet track, pulling clear of the competition by around eight seconds in one race. But he also confirmed his pace in dry conditions with strong battles and consistently top results. After the heats, Henri was joint top of the provisional standings on equal points.

He left no doubt about his form in the two heats either. The ADAC Hessen-Thüringen e.V. development driver won both heats, drove flawlessly, and consequently led the standings on Saturday evening. In doing so, he not only confirmed his qualifying pace but also delivered a controlled and mature performance in actual race conditions.

Things got tighter on Sunday. In the pre-final, the youngster started from second on the grid and was involved in some intense battles for position. In the end, he crossed the line in third place and, having secured second place in the overall standings, found himself in a promising position heading into the grand final. That’s where the highlight of the weekend unfolded. Henri worked his way up to the front and took the lead midway through the race. However, he couldn’t afford to relax, as his pursuers remained right on his tail right up to the final lap. Henri defended his position resolutely and ultimately secured his first WSK victory by the narrowest of margins: a mere 0.001 seconds decided the photo finish in his favour.

“It was simply a brilliant weekend. I felt right at home from the very first moment, and we were very quick in both wet and dry conditions. In the final, I was absolutely determined to win and gave it my all. I’m incredibly happy to have secured my first WSK victory. We’ve worked really hard with Kart Republic and I’d like to thank the whole team. A big thank you also goes to my parents, Antonio Labella (ready for energy), Dörr Motorsport and the ADAC Sport Foundation for their support,” said a delighted Henri after crossing the finish line.

With 90 points, Henri has also taken the lead in the WSK Final Cup overall standings after the first of three race weekends. Following his successful debut, all eyes are already on the upcoming international highlights. Alongside the remaining rounds of the WSK Final Cup, the autumn will see one of the season’s most important events: the German Karting Championship final in Wackersdorf and the FIA Karting OK-N Junior World Cup in Viterbo.
