Henri Möhring shines with a P7 finish at the FIA World Cup
Henri Möhring has continued his impressive winning streak on the international stage. After winning the German Junior Karting Championship and the ADAC Kart Masters, the young racer from Schöneck now also delivered a strong performance at the FIA Karting OK-N Junior World Cup in Viterbo, Italy. In a highly competitive field of 117 participants from around the world, the Motorsport Team Germany driver was among the fastest for much of the race and finished the World Cup in an outstanding seventh place.
One of the biggest challenges of the season so far awaited him at the Leopard Circuit. Together with the Kart Republic factory team, Henri took on the international elite in his class. After his first WSK Final victory in August at Franciacorta and his two national championship titles, the youngster traveled to Italy brimming with confidence. There, he impressively confirmed his positive progress in the OK-N Junior class.
The start of the weekend didn’t go quite as planned at first. In qualifying, Henri finished 30th and thus had to hold his own against numerous competitors in the subsequent heats. But already in the first races, the driver from Schöneck showed his class and quickly established himself among the front-runners. With a strong racing pace and some thrilling battles, Henri consistently contended at the front in the heats. He finished fourth in two heats, making him one of the strongest drivers of the weekend. After the heats were completed, the ADAC Hessen-Thüringen e.V. development driver was already in eighth place in the provisional standings. Henri continued his strong performance on the day of the finals as well. In the Super Heat, he once again held his own among the leaders and finished eighth. This meant he started the Grand Final from 16th on the grid and still had every chance of achieving a top result.
After a turbulent start, he temporarily dropped back to 20th place. Henri quickly found his rhythm, however, and steadily worked his way up the field. With some strong passing moves and a consistently fast pace, he gained 13 positions over the course of the race and ultimately crossed the finish line in seventh place.
“I’m super happy with the weekend. The competition was incredibly strong, and we were right in the mix from the very start of the races. The heats, in particular, showed that we can compete at the very front even at this level. Seventh place at the World Cup is a great result for me, and I’m very proud of it. The past three weeks have been simply incredible. First, winning the DKM, then the title in the ADAC Kart Masters, and now this result at the World Cup. A huge thank you to the entire Kart Republic team, Ready for Energy, my family, and everyone who supports me along the way,” Henri said happily after the final.
But the season isn’t over yet. With the WSK Final Cup, two more international race weekends await the driver from Schöneck. From October 21–25, he’ll first head to Lonato, before the grand finale in Viterbo takes place from November 25–29. Henri will also compete for the Kart Republic factory team there. Following his opening-round victory in Franciacorta, Henri leads the overall standings of the WSK Final Cup in the OK-N Junior class.
