The Arena E in Mülsen welcomed over 180 participants to the fifth round of the German Kart Championship. Henri Möhring competed in the Mini category and was one of the top drivers right from the start. But a minor setback forced him to play catch-up. In the end, he was delighted with another trophy.

A little excitement is part and parcel of Henri Möhring’s races this season, and this time was no exception. The conditions were challenging. High temperatures demanded a good level of fitness, but Henri proved his strength and got off to a good start with fourth place in qualifying. However, there was an immediate setback in the subsequent heats: Henri was knocked out in a battle for position and only finished 26th. However, a fifth place in the second heat limited the damage somewhat – he finished the Saturday race in 13th place. The cards were then reshuffled on Sunday. The Hessian showed great fighting spirit in the Super Heat and moved up to fourth place. “That was a great race. I made up nine places and am now back within striking distance,” said the youngster from the TB Racing Team at the finish.

“Of course I want to celebrate great success in motorsport one day. But it’s still a tough road until then,” says the ten-year-old racing driver, aware of the challenge. In Kerpen, he got off to a good start in third place in qualifying. However, he was thrown back directly in the first heat and slipped to 13th place in the intermediate classification as a result. In midsummer temperatures, he then fought sweaty duels in the Super Heat on Sunday morning. When the chequered flag fell, he was a sensational second and underlined his potential. “Wow, that was hard work and an amazing race,” beamed Henri at the finish.

The finale lasted eleven laps, during which the Mini drivers changed positions in numerous slipstream duels. Henri was part of a trio that was battling it out for the trophy positions. He finished a strong fourth and secured another trophy. He also scored important points for the championship and can now make it into the top five at the season finale. “We can be satisfied with the weekend. In the end, we got the maximum out of it and scored important points. A big thank you to my parents, my team and partners for their support. We are now preparing for the season finale and will go all out again in Wackersdorf. I still have the best chance of finishing the season in the top five,” said the ten-year-old, making his objective clear.

The final will take place from September 21-22 in Wackersdorf, Upper Palatinate. Henri is already using the South German ADAC Kart Cup to prepare for the race two weeks beforehand.
