Once again at the top internationally
Henri Möhring went to Italy again last weekend. This time he took part in the Trofeo Delle Industrie in Lonato and was among the top riders. In changeable conditions, he was on the front row of the Mini U10 field. He finished the event as the best German after the finals.
Henri Möhring traveled to the traditional Trofeo Delle Industrie in Lonato with a lot of self-confidence. The event took place for the 52nd time and attracted over 320 riders from 47 nations to Lake Garda. This time, however, the weather was not on the side of the riders and teams – heavy rain demanded the necessary skill on the 1,200-meter-long course. The Hessian again competed for the Tony Kart Racing Team and felt very comfortable.
He was already among the leaders in the free practice sessions and delivered a great team performance in qualifying. On his fastest race lap, the youngster gave his teammates the slipstream they needed – in the end, they finished first, second and third. Henri had a great starting position and made the most of it in the three heats. He didn’t let a few hard attacks upset him. With one win and two second places, he stormed to second place on the grid for the pre-final.
However, the situation changed on Sunday night. Henri was struggling with an infection, which put a race start into question for a long time and made it impossible for him to take part in the morning warm-up. Despite his weakness, the man from Schöneck did not let it get him down. In the pre-final, he dropped back at the start on the poorer outside lane. However, he fought his way back up to fourth place with the fastest race lap and showed an impressive performance on a still wet track. For the finale, then on a dry track, he once again mustered his strength and was the best German driver across all classes in fifth place. “Phew, that was a tough day. The pre-final and the final were definitely my most exhausting races so far. But I’m proud not to have given up and I’m very happy with the weekend. Without my limitation on Sunday, a podium would have been very realistic. I would like to thank the entire team, my partners and my parents for their support,” concluded the ADAC Hessen-Thüringen protégé.
Henri will be back on the grid next week at the South Garda Circuit in Lonato. The opening round of the WSK Final Cup will take place there.
