After his exciting debut at the ADAC Kart Masters in Wackersdorf, it was on to Ampfing for eight-year-old Henri Möhring. The Schweppermannring welcomed 148 drivers. Henri competed for the first time for the TB Racing Team and convinced with his speed – in the end he finished second in the U10 classification.

“This weekend was very instructive for us. Henri has made a great start in his new team and was among the top five on the timesheet. In the races, however, his lack of racing experience was still somewhat noticeable. The time penalty in the first heat made a position in the front field even more difficult,” summed up his father and mentor Christian Möhring.

Henri had already spent the last few weeks preparing for the event in Bavaria and went into the race weekend in the best of moods. He already showed his potential in the practice sessions and followed this up with an eighth place in qualifying. The Mini60 field was again strong this time with 32 young drivers. Unfortunately, a ten-second time penalty in the first preliminary heat for leaving the corridor early at the start cost Henri important ground, so that he slipped to 14th position in the intermediate classification on Saturday evening.

“That was of course very annoying, now we have to fight and find the way forward again,” said the youngster from Schöneck. He already showed his will to fight in the warm-up on Sunday morning – in third place Henri was one of the top riders in the field. The two races over 14 laps each were characterized by numerous duels. In the end, the protégé of ADAC Hessen-Thüringen e.V. finished both rounds in eleventh place, making him one of the best rookies. As second in the U10 classification, Henri climbed onto the winners’ podium in the evening.

“I am overall very satisfied and happy with the course of the weekend, although more was possible for us. My package fits, so I have the potential to finish in the top five in the overall standings. I need to gain more race experience, especially in the fights for positions, then it will be easier for me to catch up,” said the Hessian, summing up his weekend.

The race continues for him in five weeks’ time at the ADAC Kart Masters’ half-time race at the Arena E in Mülsen. Henri is already familiar with the track from last year and would like to fully attack there again. As third in the U10 championship and ninth overall, he has a strong starting position.
